THE BLOODY BEST ~ October 2025 BLOODY MARY CONTEST RULES
Entrants must be at least 21 years old.
- Single entrants or teams of a maximum of two people are allowed.
- Recipes must be original and tomato-based.
- CAN NOT use pre-made bloody mary mix at all!
- Ingredients list must be provided to the judges (this is part of judging originality). The submission of measurements/quantities is optional. This submission may be typed or handwritten.
- You will need to make a total of 100 ounces for samples to the judges.
- Your $20 entry fee provides you:
- 1 Bottle of Szczypkowski Vodka 750ml (plain, citrus, blood orange or Gin)
- The bottle must be displayed with your entry
- NO outside alcohol can be used (PLCB rules for a distillery)
- sample cups
- ice & straws
- A HGD logo presentation Pint glass to keep
- You will provide:
- ALL Non-alcohol ingredients to make your drink including garnish(es).
- All tools to prepare your recipe (we have some but not enough for everyone)
- A dispenser of some kind
- You do not need to be present to win but you must setup your area (we have servers that will / can deliver samples to our seated guest / judges.
- Professional Judging will be based on the following point score:
- Taste: 40 points.
- Presentation: 25 points.
- Originality: 20 points.
- Garnish: 15 points.
- Schedule of events:
- 10AM Check-in and set-up.
- 11AM Samples and presentation glass ready for Judge.
- 1PM All Voting stops Clean-up begins
- 1:15pm Winners announced.
- 2 first place Winners:
- THE PROFESSIONAL Bloody best – as voted on by a local mixologist
- The BLOODY BEST peoples choice – Voted by the people – Bloody with most votes.
- First prize winners will receive a certificate & $100 cash prize.
- Winners will be featured on both The holy ghost website and social media posts.
During the Contest, the judge decision is final and if necessary, will supersede these rules.
